Crème de la Crumb
466 Granville Street
Vancouver, BC V6C 1V4
Eating a scone at Crème de la Crumb is like eating a cloud. I had the pear and vanilla bean scone which was light, fluffy, and with just the right hint of natural sweetness from the little chunks of fresh pear baked right into the scone. Crème de la Crumb is a charming little coffee nook between West Hastings and West Pender Streets in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The shop’s witty and memorable name is stylistically lettered high on the wall above its minimal but outstanding menu of coffees, herbal teas and assorted pastries. The service is impeccable, the staff is always friendly and chatty; buying coffee and breakfast from them on a Monday morning can really make your workday. And wait until you taste the creative pastries: apple and cinnamon scones, apple and cheddar scones, light, buttery and perfectly flaky apple danishes, turkey andGruyère stuffed croissants, and my personal favourite: the Belgian waffle. Something about the Crème de la Crumb‘s sweet waffles with their crispy outside and soft, buttery crumbly insides with a hint of maple syrup and nutty brown sugar make them deliciously but dangerously addictive.
All their pastries are baked fresh daily, so I can always count on something new and delectable freshly out of the oven every time I visit.
Crème de la Crumb also serves a variety of creative panini sandwiches that they are happy to grill for you on the spot. Fresh fruit salad, yogurt, soft drinks and pop are also available. The shop is celebrating their official grand opening this coming Friday, July 30th. Free coffee and treats will be available throughout the day and you can bet on it that I’ll be the first in line!
