My favourite combo in the world is peanut butter and chocolate. I often crave it late at night, and true story, I have actually snuck down from my hotel in New York City to order peanut butter cream pie and cheesecake from a nearby deli.

We don’t have 24 hour delis here, but we have True Confections. And they serve a chocolate peanut butter cheesecake that I get regular cravings for. Topping off a rich and dense chocolate cheese cake filling is a stiff layer of sweet and salty peanut butter with little bits of crunchy nuts right in the icing. There is just something about the sweet and thick peanut butter sticking to the roof of my mouth mixed in with the smooth chocolate cheesecake that I just can’t get enough of.

We also ordered the Toasted Almond sponge cake with fluffy, airy icing and toasted coconut. It was a light and cloud-like cake with a super moist middle and sweet almond cream but it did not hold a candle to my favourite chocolate peanut butter cheesecake.

My second favourite dessert from the cheesecake selection at True Confections is the Oreo cheesecake, piled high with whipped cream and an Oreo cookie. This cheesecake totally hits the spot. It’s dense and heavy, literally gluing to my fork as I scooped up bites. The tangy cheese was the perfect match to the sweet cookies and cream Oreo.

I’ve also always loved the ice cream at True Confections. As if it’s extra cold, or extra creamy, the generous scoops of ice cream served with cakes here are always the perfect consistency, providing a refreshing, icy sweet compliment to the rich cakes.

Writing this blog post is actually triggering my craving for chocolate peanut butter cheesecake again.

True Confections is a dessert lover’s wonderland. The prices are lovely for their huge/rich portion sizes! My favourite is the chocolate banana cream pie- not too rich or sweet.

yes! i loooove their tall cakes. i haven’t strayed far from their cheesecake menu every time i’ve visited though…
