Rodneys: Low Tide Nibbles
1228 Hamilton Street, Yaletown, Vancouver
Nothing beats Low Tide at Rodney’s on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Diana (Foodology), some friends and I sailed into Rodney’s just to catch the tail end of Low Tide at 5 pm. Low Tide is when freshly shucked oysters go for $1.50 each. Other items are marked down too but we were there just for our favourite: fat, juicy oysters!
We ordered a dozen Low Tide oysters as soon as we sat down: Fanny Bay oysters. The 12 oysters came to the table, fresh, glistening and plump. The thing that I love the most about Fanny Bay oysters are their smooth meatiness, they go down like silk but are plump enough so just enough chewing is required so it’s satisfying.
The Fanny Bay oysters tasted salty, ice cold and clean, with melon and cucumber aftertastes. They made the perfect, refreshing afternoon snack.
Low Tide runs from 3 to 6 pm at Rodney’s from Monday to Saturday. Don’t forget to stop by after work tomorrow!
