I had my first Screamer this past weekend and loved it! I especially loved that the soft serve ice cream was still in a nice solid form when I started drinking it and we were sitting in the sun. It made it harder to suck all that slushy pop and ice cream up the fat straw, but it was worth it!

Danny’s Market, where we bought the Screamers seems like a local neighbourhood hang out. It is literally right smack dab in the middle of a residential zone. The weirdest thing is they have an all-you-can-eat menu. What’s on the menu? Pizza, hot dogs, random other greasy junk. I mean, how much can a person eat of that stuff anyway? Then again, we were in the middle of suburbia and strange things happen in suburbia.

I chose the lime Crush which was sweet and tangy. Totally refreshing for a sunny afternoon. I wish I had a spoon for the swirl of soft serve on top though. The soft serve was firm, probably kept cold by the ice cold slushy pop, but it was still sweet and creamy. I love soft serve and I’ll admit that one of my indulgences are McDonald’s ice cream cones.

And something about the totally smooth and creamy texture of soft serve against the crushed ice slushy pop made this the perfect cold drink under the sun. It was just the right combo of being ice cold and super sweet.

We also ordered a Screamer with pineapple pop. Obviously, it didn’t taste like pineapple at all. It did kind of remind me of a pina colada though, especially with the soft serve in place of the coconut cream. I definitely liked my lime Screamer better. The only bad thing about Screamers is that you have to drink them while they’re still in a semi-frozen state. Melted, they taste like lukewarm Cool Whip.

Butter chicken pizza, Danny's Market, 9040 Francis Road, Richmond, Canada

Since the pizzas were fresh, we got a slice of butter chicken pizza. It turned out to be one of the tastiest pizzas I’ve ever eaten. It’s always in the most random, unsuspecting places that I find the tastiest bites. The pizza was covered in cheese and the tender chicken was shockingly flavourful. The sweet and spicy curry sauce was subtle and not overpowering. The pizza went nicely with our cold drinks.

Can’t wait to revisit for more Screamers!
