For a morning of girl talk and brunch, we headed to Provence at Yaletown’s waterfront. I was impressed by the long cocktail menu of mimosa selections. Nobody loves a good mimosa more than I do. I quickly selected the lychee mimosa: a combo of my two favourite things: bubbly champagne and lychee. My friend went with a classic mimosa, champagne and orange juice.

We leisurely sipped our brunch cocktails as we admired the sailboats. The service at Provence was fairly quick and attentive. We both ordered eggs benedict. I went with the smoked salmon benedict. Since this is a French restaurant, they didn’t use English muffins but rather, thin and moist little blinis. I have to say, I much prefer the blinis. They don’t steal the show away from the glorious, thick and luscious, creamy Hollandaise sauce and poached egg. Plus blinis are like little mini pancakes and I love pancakes.

The egg was poached perfectly, the rich, golden yolk spilled out like liquid sunshine as soon as I lightly cut the egg open. Good thing I had all those home fries to mop up the creamy deliciousness.

The smoke salmon was silky and tasty. There was an ample amount of it piled high on the tiny blini too! The sliced melons also added a great refreshing punch to the meal.

All in all, this was a very decadent (and pricy!) brunch. But I would go again any day. I love spoiling myself!
